For the basis of decreasing, we will use a US-single crochet/UK double crochet. When decreasing a stitch, you simply work two stitches together.

Instructions (U.S. Terminology)

  1. Foundation Chain: Chain any number
  2. Row 1: Single crochet to the end, ch1, turn.
  3. Row 2:
    • Decreasing at the beginning: Insert the hook into the first stitch, pull through a loop. Insert the hook into the next stitch, pull through a loop. Yarn over and pull through all loops on the hook.
    • Sc5.
    • Decreasing in the center: Insert the hook into a stitch, pull through a loop. Insert the hook into the next stitch, pull through a loop. Yarn over and pull through all loops on the hook.
    • Sc to the last stitch.
    • Decreasing at the end: Insert the hook into the second last stitch, pull through a loop. Insert the hook into the last stitch, pull through a loop. Yarn over and pull through all loops on the hook.
